About

Hi, I’m Amara! β€‹πŸ‘‹πŸ½β€‹

I am a Software Developer and Community Manager living in Nigeria β€‹πŸ‡³πŸ‡¬β€‹ & CameroonπŸ‡¨πŸ‡², with years of industry experience in helping organizations & communities design, build, increase brand awareness, establish a positive reputation, and grow their business.

I have a background in Computer Science (First Class Hons) from the prestigious Michael Okpara University of Agriculture. I fully understand the importance of community for both individual developers and for B2B organizations and create balanced experiences that create a sense of belonging between members.

I currently work as a Developer community manager at Concensys Mesh, where I work with the R&D Identity unit to build Veramo, a framework for Decentralized Identities and Verifiable credentials. Aside from work, I volunteer at She Code Africa, the largest women in Tech community in Africa (with over 17,000 members) as a Community Manager, to bring more women into technology, and I also love to share my knowledge about tech and community building via The Community Chic.

Community

I believe in the spirit of community & collaboration. Hence, I have played active roles in strengthening communities around me, particularly in my areas of interest. In the past years, I have helped to build, maintain and grow some amazing communities, within and beyond Africa, such as She Code Africa, Open Source Community Africa, Kubernetes Community Days, and ForLoop Aba.

Writing

I love to see myself as a community-taught, and I give back to the community by sharing my knowledge via technical and non-technical articles. The technical articles are focused on web development, while the non-technical articles focus on Community Management (via The Community Chic).

Techducation Point

Techducation Point is a platform I created in 2020, at the peak of the pandemic, where I taught teachers how to leverage tech to recreate their physical learning environments (I wrote a book on it). I also taught over 100 students computer programming, and through the programs and initiatives carried out, I helped keep these students in school all through the pandemic.
